Hi, and welcome to the online home of SPALC! For over 34 years, the St. Paul Adult Learning Center has been an “OASIS” in the midst of poverty, crime, and hopelessness. Founded in 1983, in the Eden Park community by my mentors, Sr. Lory Schaff, and Sr. Kathleen Bahlinger. They began SPALC as a small, but yet dedicated school, determined to reach the “least of these” in the Baton Rouge community with a vital and life giving educational opportunity.
By 1999, a strong, total program was in place that included educational, employability and life skills. Today, we have a vibrant main campus, a satellite program on the campus of Camelot College, with a capacity to serve over 150 teen and adult students each year, engaging in Basic Skills, HiSet Preparation, Life Skills, Job Skills, Student Worksite Experience, Leadership Retreats, Enrichment Activities, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship Training, Counseling, Volunteer Activities, and School Sponsored Athletics. In our 34 years of operation, we have helped to educate over 6,000 students!
As we forge ahead into our future, I invite you to join us in this challenging but rewarding venture of helping the underserved in our Baton Rouge community to pave their own roads to success. Your financial gift will empower us to open many new opportunities for our students, and help them to develop the academic, life and job skills necessary to enhance their future.
I know that this will be one of the most enriching & fulfilling investments of your life, just as it has for me! We appreciate your support.
